About Michael Quiroga

I’m a recent Computer Engineering graduate from Loyola University Chicago with a passion for automation, AI, and robotics. My experience spans from leading technical projects to conducting research at the intersection of hardware and machine vision. As my capstone's Engineering Project Manager, I led a small team to develop an AI-powered voice recognition system for prosthetic control. This involved building a complete audio processing pipeline, deploying models on STM32 microcontrollers, and optimizing performance in high-noise environments—achieving real-world accuracies of 85%+.At Loyola’s Abegaz Research Group, I prototyped a low-cost autonomous robotic vehicle with multi-sensor integration, real-time control, and machine learning for obstacle avoidance, lane-keeping, and cruise control. This work led to an conference paper presentation at IIT and UC Berkeley. My hands-on projects include developing a functioning ECG system (from PCB design to MATLAB signal analysis), implementing a RISC-V ALU as well as FSM designs on the altera FPGA, and creating AI algorithms for document similarity.Technical skills: Python, C/C++, Java OOP, MATLAB, System Verilog, STM32, Arduino, FPGA, TensorFlow Lite, Quartus Prime, ModelSim, SolidWorks, and Git.I’m excited to apply my skills in embedded AI, robotics, and control systems to push forward innovative solutions in engineering and automation.
