About Michael Raleigh

Experienced pharmacologist developing opioid vaccines for subsequent use in clinical trials with a strong interest in public outcomes. My current roles include co-Principle Investigator on an NIH funded grant, study director, and preclinical senior scientist. Skilled in development of protocols and preclinical experimental design, project management, pharmacokinetic and behavioral assays, data analysis, and manuscript writing. I received my PhD from the Pharmacology program at the University of Minnesota Medical School. My main interest is in public health outcomes. My current work is in bringing opioid vaccines to clinical studies. My Graduate studies focused on the pharmacokinetic mechanisms through which heroin vaccines heroin's behavioral effects (i.e, how do antibodies generated by a heroin vaccine reduce heroin and metabolite distribution to brain and ultimately reduce heroin's reinforcing effects?). My post-doctoral and current work extends this research to more human-relevant studies (such as self-administration models and more complex pharmacokinetic studies) to better understand how opioid vaccines will translate to use in humans.
