About Michael Rapien

Currently responsible for health and safety for over 26 project locations in the Southeast for Jacobs (formerly CH2M Hill) since 2007. After earning a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee, my first 12 years’ of experience was in sales related to the safety industry (6 years as a manufactures representative and 6 year selling directly to the end user). In 2006 I had an opportunity to change my career path and became a safety professional. My focus has been in operations management, which requires a vast knowledge of both general industry (OSHA 1910) and construction (OSHA 1926). My current responsibilities include but are not limited to the creation, implementation and enforcing safety programs and policies, incident investigations, working with OSHA code enforcement, creating and maintaining stats for our business unit, evaluate leading and lagging indicators, identify trends, and provide training. As a Regional Health and Safety Manager, I am responsible to mentor and coach my safety team. By creating a strong diverse safety team and building strong working relationships with the project staff, we have been successful in changing the safety culture and in turn reduce injuries. I have a CSP and am current with OSHA 502 (10-30 hr)
