About Michael Raymond

I am Partner in Travers Smith's Financial Services and Markets Department. I have a broad financial services regulatory practice, but with deep expertise of the law and regulatory environment relevant to the alternative investment management sector. My clients include some of the world's largest multi-strategy alternative investment managers, where I advise on all aspects of law and regulation which impact their businesses, helping them to find effective and pragmatic ways to navigate a complex and ever-changing domestic and international regulatory framework. Outside of client work, I am also a contributor to industry trade associations, with a particular focus on issues impacting the private equity and alternative credit sectors. I have particular expertise in advising on: regulatory change projects under UK and EU legislation including those driven by AIFMD, MIFID II, the EU Securities Financing Transactions Regulation, the Securitisation Regulation, the Short Selling Regulation and the Market Abuse Regulation; the raising and marketing of investment funds (and advising on securities marketing rules); developing and implementing capital management fund structures for EU managers of issuers of collateralised loan obligations; new licensing authorisation projects; banking business and insurance business portfolio transfers under Part VII of the Financial Services and Markets Act financial services aspects of corporate and financing transactions; and regulatory investigations and disciplinary proceedings.
