About Michael Rayner

I'm a self-taught full-stack web developer from Australia who has recently moved to Antwerp, Belgium. I have found what I love to do in web development: the combination of creativity and problem solving with a complete open endedness to what you can make. Having started as a web developer more or less out of necessity while launching my own startup, GenSpeak, coding very quickly became a passion. Working to turn GenSpeak into a feature rich platform as well as taking on extra projects as a lead developer for Sprout Scientific allowed me to dive into so many areas and wear many hats across the web dev landscape. In 2021 I took on my first role as part of a larger dev team for tech unicorn Scalapay. This has been one of the best experiences in my dev career. Getting to work with so many talented and passionate team members on products that were shipping changes daily. This knocked out any remaining self-taught imposter syndrome and solidified the fact that software engineering is what I love to do. As much as I love Australia, I am excited to begin the next chapter of my life here in my partner’s home country, Belgium.
