About Michael Rivers

A software engineer with over eight years of development experience in designing and building applications and services that are an asset to any software development team. Not only do I have experience developing client side applications, server applications, middle tiers, web services, web applications, and databases, I have integrated them to other third-party products and applications via web services, web apps, and other custom messaging formats. I am also a highly collaborative programmer. Charles Kettering once said,"a problem well stated is a problem half solved."​ I often find that simply taking the time to carefully outline the details of a problem often makes the solution readily apparent. And, I find my tendency towards collaboration is an invaluable team asset in finding solutions to problems and making problems clearer when I am trying to understand their various difficulties. I believe strongly in the principles of the Agile Manifesto and found it to be both empowering and liberating. With most of my working experience in business services, I have continually seen the impact of these principles in real-world situations as rapid release structures and the ability to respond immediately to business needs have allowed the rescue of businesses in need. Most of all, I am a lover of life. Programming allows me to deliver services that make people's lives better, their jobs easier, and their work more productive just by giving them the tools and resources they need to do things they often did not even know were possible. The satisfaction of this human connection and emotional exchange is really why I love programming. Nothing brings me joy in life more than making other people's lives better with software.
