About Michael Ruotolo

I am a Sr Product Development Engineer working for Corning Incorporated where I have worked for over 11 years. For the past 6 years, I have worked in Corning’s Pharmaceutical Technologies (CPT) division where I have led and contributed to the development, production, and customer support for all CPT vial products including Valor®, Velocity®, and Viridian™. Being part of this new division within Corning has granted me experience across various roles including Product Design and Development, Quality Assurance, Supplier Onboarding, Product and Process Validation, Application Engineering, and Commercial Technology, and Sustainability to support innovative pharmaceutical packaging. As a senior engineer, I leverage my technical background in material science engineering and broad experience in project management applied towards improving the productivity, quality, and cost of Corning’s products and processes. I am passionate about leading cross-functional teams to develop new technologies that meet industry standard requirements and exceed customer expectations especially around improving sustainability. This has included new sustainable product design, specification and measurements development, supplier development, tech-transfer to high volume manufacturing, application testing, and business development. Prior to joining CPT, I had worked for 6 years with progressive roles in glass process research and development where I contributed to inventing and applying new glass melting and forming technologies while leading process improvement projects and managing teams in a pilot line 24/7 operation. Outside of work I enjoy playing tennis and contributing to the Greater Elmira Tennis Association to support local tournaments. I also love to get out into nature for hiking, camping, kayaking, and running.
