About Michael Ryan

Education is my passion. To me, there is nothing more rewarding than helping children learn to read and write and engage with the text that surrounds them in their daily lives. I love seeing the joy on a student's face as they learn that their choice of words has the power to entertain, inform and persuade. Like so many other teachers, I found the classroom a difficult and overwhelming place to work, and I experienced burnout. I have since decided to dedicate my career to enhancing the work-lives of teachers by working for companies that seek to improve teaching and learning outcomes whilst removing the administrative or logistical burden for teachers, so that they may continue to teach with passion and excitement. I believe EduTech is at the forefront of revolutionising the educational experience for teachers and students and I am thrilled to have found a renewed sense of passion working for Turnitin, a company that places integrity at the fore of everything it does. As an employee, I continually evaluate, refine and rework my own practices and knowledge by being open to advice and new ideas from colleagues, authors and academics. As an educator, I am a teacher and learner.
