About Michael Ryan
I am a mechanical engineering graduate from the University of St. Thomas. I have worked as an applications engineer at Calbrandt/Brandt Automation where I designed and program hydraulic railcar movers and custom automation equipment. My primary automation projects are a system to dimensionally inspect and bundle wood parts and a servo system that syncs with a rolling concrete bed to stamp a pattern. I began designing the mechanical systems of equipment, but have learned electrical design and PLC programming skills additionally. I have had the opportunity to work a number of internships. Through my experiences I have spent time both working on the shop floor and in quality, manufacturing, design engineering, and sales roles. I believe this gives me a well rounded perspective and knowledge of a variety of engineering challenges.
