About Michael Samawi

I’m a systems-minded public health leader and educator (DrPH) who builds bridges between data, policy, and human-centered impact across complex international and institutional contexts. Blending rigorous quantitative and qualitative methods with on-the-ground experience in international development, military education, and global health advocacy, I help organizations turn ambiguity into aligned strategy and durable outcomes. Over the last decade I’ve designed and operationalized nationally representative analytic frameworks in pediatric health, managed large-scale development and accreditation initiatives, and created culturally responsive educational systems for service members—advising leaders and translating technical insight into policy, programmatic change, and operational alignment. My work is grounded in evidence but oriented toward real-world impact. I am author or co-author of multiple peer-reviewed publications that explore critical gaps in health systems—including nationally representative analyses of pediatric postoperative sepsis, respiratory failure, and neonatal bloodstream infections—examining racial and payer disparities, system-level predictors, and actionable levers for quality improvement. That scholarship is complemented by strategic synthesis and translation: turning complex patterns into clear recommendations, shaping stakeholder engagement approaches, and supporting advocacy efforts that reflect both ethical imperatives and pragmatic feasibility. I bring a values-rooted leadership style that centers collaboration, adaptability, and clarity. Whether developing curriculum in linguistically and culturally diverse settings at DLIFLC, coordinating across international multilateral partners, or building interoperable data-and-governance systems, I focus on empowering others with insight and aligning technical investments to mission.
