Professor Michael is the Director of Learning Futures and Lead Education Architect at Charles Darwin University in Darwin, Australia. He specialises in technology enhanced learning, staff and leadership development, curriculum renewal, online pedagogies, multimodal design, digital, visual and multiliteracies. He has worked in Higher Education for 30+ years and is particularly interested in how constructively aligned and aesthetically enhanced learning environments can better transmit concepts to students, particularly those from diverse backgrounds. Over my time in higher education, working initially as a professional staff member, then transitioning to an academic position, I have gained a significant appreciation for the breadth of experience required to meet the challenges of contemporary university life. With a strong background in Instructional Design and Academic Development, I have trained hundreds of staff in how best to design and deliver quality education and discipline-based courses. I have lead sector-wide training events in the areas of leadership development and quality assurance through benchmarking for close to a decade, and have a strong focus and passion on raising-up new leaders in how best to harness technology to enhance learning and teaching, both here in Australia and in the developing world.
