About Michael Scarborough

I’m a technical writer and editor with a background in macOS systems engineering, endpoint management, and enterprise IT. My experience includes creating user guides, administrator documentation, knowledge base articles, troubleshooting content, workflow documentation, and getting-started materials for support teams, engineers, administrators, and end users.Throughout my IT career, I regularly translated technical processes into documentation that improved consistency, reduced repeated questions, and helped people complete tasks more effectively. That work led me to focus more directly on technical writing and editing.I currently serve as a Technical Editor for Apache OpenOffice documentation, where I review and revise user guide content for clarity, consistency, usability, and technical accuracy. I’ve also completed Scriptorium’s Introduction to DITA course and built portfolio samples in Markdown, GitHub-based formats, and introductory DITA XML.My technical background in macOS, Jamf Pro, endpoint management, and enterprise support environments helps me understand the systems I document and turn technical complexity into clear, audience-focused content.I’m especially interested in technical writing roles involving:• User and administrator documentation• Knowledge base and troubleshooting content• IT and endpoint documentation• Process and workflow documentation• Technical editing• Structured authoring and documentation systemsPortfolio: https://mackmike.github.io/technical-writing-portfolio-site/
