Background
About Michael Schoenith
At the age of 6, Michael Schoenith, began to display traits of entrepreneurship. He once sold roses on a street corner that were left over from a party that his father had thrown the previous night. Another time, he charged his dad’s guests $1 to go to a lower level in their home where food and drinks were being served. That drive to make business out of pleasure never left Michael. In fact, teamed with knowledge, intuition and experience, it is that same drive that has placed Michael in the position of Owner/Operator of the Roostertail, the most successful independent catering facility in Metro Detroit. One of the many aspects Michael oversees in the business is that every event be an entertaining experience with an equal balance of food, décor, service, and atmosphere. One single element or area cannot overpower any of the others, otherwise the balance is broken. Since feedback is an integral part of improving the business, guests are surveyed about their experience at the Roostertail whether they're waiting for their coat or for their car. Aside from the Roostertail, Michael has been heavily involved as a board member on a number of local organizations such as: Historic Trinity, the Parade Company, the Music Hall, and the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy. He has also been long-standing member of the Detroit Institute of Arts and a lifetime member of the NAACP."It doesn't matter what's happening in our lives or the world - for the party we're catering on any given night - it's the most important day in their lives. Whether it's a wedding, retirement or some other milestone…we work to keep our guests entertained throughout the evening." Michael is already starting to concentrate on the Roostertail's upcoming 55th anniversary. With plans of Historical Designation, he continues to support the facility's restoration and expansion, eager to remain an important part of the city of Detroit.
