About Michael Seaton

I am Michael and I am a Final year student at Kingston University studying Product and Furniture Design and graduating in June 2023. Whilst being at Kingston University, I have had the opportunity to do projects with companies such as Alessi, SCP, VG & P, Bill Amberg Studio, Freddie Grubb, Heals, Fosters and Partners and Network Rail. My practice focuses on Designer Maker rather than conceptual as I feel my practice and craft is more suited to making and physically creating. Throughout my current career as a designer, I have been shortlisted for the Gordon Russell Furniture Competition for my design of the Book Stool in the summer of 2020. I was lucky enough to be able to participate in the Erasmus Scheme between 2021-22 where I studied at Hochschule Fur Gestaltung Schwabisch Gmund, Germany and worked at Nohaymapas, Spain. In the summer of 2022, I worked at Trails End Camp in Pennsylvania, USA as a Woodworking specialist. This stretched my scope of the design and was able to teach children how versatile wood is as a material.
