Here's a summary of my accomplishments- Started-up a new technology commercialization office and provided successful leadership for 7 years- Led office to 600% and 500% increase in invention (IP) production and commercialization, respectively- Negotiated numerous IP license agreements in a broad range of industries - pharma/biotech, medical devices, software, adv. matls, nanotech, lasers, etc- Led U. of Michigan, with research budget of over $1 billion, and one of its TT offices to its best year ever for commercializing new IP in 2004- Have helped launch numerous start-up companies that have raised over $20 million in investment; one of these was also purchased for over $200 million- Co-founded investment company focused on commercializing institutional IP. Here's a summary of my key experiences/skill-sets- 19 years experience in IP management/IP commercialization/new ventures- 13 years management experience for tech. commercialization offices, including managing budgets, programs, personnel, hiring, training, etc- Professional training (from ACA) and 2 years experience making investment decisions in start-up companies; over 15 years experience making investment decisions in new technologies/IP- Professional training (from LES) and 13 years experience in financial forecasting/modeling, and using/creating DCF, IRR, NPV, and rNPV models- experience pricing IP using 25% Rule, DCF and Black-Scholes models in negotiations- also creating financial models for patent budgeting, forecasting patent expenses- 15 years experience creating, managing technology development funds/centers and E-I-R/New Ventures programs- Experience writing business plans, funding proposals, and in the private capital raising process.
