About Michael Sharp

I have gained knowledge of the construction industry during my time working at a timber and building supplies merchant. This job gave me a great insight into supplier costs and a wide knowledge of building products. I believe this will stand me in good stead as a surveyor by having an understanding of sustainable products at a good price. During a gap year in New Zealand I gained practical experience on a building site with Martin Leslie Engineering and Drainage. As well as working within the construction industry I had a short visit at McGowan Miller Construction Consultants talking with a chartered surveyor, learning from their experience and getting an idea for how a quantity surveyor adapts and overcomes any situation that may be an issue when erecting a building. One of the reasons that I am so interested in surveying, is the fact that it is such a transferable career. There are so many progressions and opportunities within the industry. My long term goals include but are not limited to; travelling to different countries to work as well as becoming a full chartered surveyor after my degree is complete.I am currently searching for a placement opportunity starting September 2022.
