Background
About Michael Shelly
More than thirty years of construction safety experience with a strong emphasis on electrical safety. 14 years as Safety Director/Risk Manager for medium size ($100 million+ annually) Electrical Contractors. I like working with and for organizations who understand the relationship between their safety results and first time quality. As a Safety Professional I am a strong proponent of the notion that,"When our processes require 100% of our people to make the correct decisions 100% of the time, than our processes will experience failure."Since 2008 I have worked mainly on Utility Scale Renewable Energy (Wind/Solar/Battery Storage) projects across multiple states. I hold the SMS and CHST certifications from BCSP, and the CESCP, CEST certifications from NFPA. I've had an OSHA 500 Trainer's card for Construction Safety & Health since 1991. At various stages of my career I've been an; ALTEC Digger Derrick & Bucket Truck Instructor; an ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor and Certified Flagger Instructor; a National Safety Council Instructor for Defensive Driving, Coaching the Professional Truck Diver, Powered Industrial Truck (Forklift) Safety, Leadership Development, CPR/First Aid; and A Red Cross CPR/1st Aid/AED Instructor. I've been a designated Competent/Qualified Person for respiratory protection, Injury and Illness Prevention Plans (IIPP), scaffolding, fall protection and excavations. I also have experience with environmental protection programs (SWPP/SPCC). My duties have included authoring numerous company/site specific safety manuals, assisting projects to help them achieve success reaching Zero Injury goals, mentoring/developing safety professionals and safety supervisors, and training on a variety of subjects to include, NFPA 70E, OSHA 10/30 hour classes, Forklift (classroom/hands-on), Rigger/Signalperson, Mobile Crane Safety.
