About Michael Sinnott

I have over ten years experience in fisheries research with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. Much of that time has been spent conducting field research for Chinook salmon, coho salmon, steelhead, and lamprey on the Northern Oregon coast. In addition, I have over 4 years crew leader experience; running field crews of 4 to 10 seasonal employees for research field seasons including Fall Chinook Mark and Recapture, coho spawning surveys, Spring Chinook spawning surveys, and steelhead spawning surveys. During this time I have co authored multiple technical reports, and have made technical presentation to the Chinook Technical Committee and the American Fisheries Society, as well as many presentations to the public, and local watershed councils. Most recently I have had the opportunity to cross train with the North West Watershed District, under the Assistant District Fisheries Biologist. In that role I have gained experience in grant writing, stock assessment, Forest Protection Act site evaluation, habitat restoration, and habitat protection. Prior to my career with ODF & W I was the livestock operations manager for a cattle ranch in the Willamette valley for 5 years. I have a BS in Wildlife science from Oregon State University. I love working in Natural Resources, and am always interested in new challenges and new opportunities.
