About Michael Sliker

I retired from policing in May 2021, after serving for more than 30-years. During my career, I served as a patrol officer, field training officer, accreditation manager, and chief of police. I am currently a criminal justice instructor with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry. I am also a PA Municipal Police Academy Training Instructor. While working in Municipal Government, I earned the certification of Certified Borough Official through the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs. I became skilled in Microsoft Office 365 Suite, government management, emergency management, law enforcement, police administration, police accreditation, criminal investigation, interviewing and interrogation, and police field training throughout my professional and academic career. I have a solid educational background, including earning my Master's Degree in Administration of Justice from Mercyhurst University. I am currently working on my Ph.D. in Criminal Justice through Capella University. I have researched evidence-based police practices, police militarization, police-community relations, and the effects of police accreditation on municipal police agencies. I am currently focusing my attention on furthering my career in academics and look forward to shaping the minds of future criminal justice professionals to be more community-oriented.
