About Michael Stingone

Hello, my name is Michael Stingone. I am an early childhood educator as well as a professional musician. I am a New York state certified teacher with a Dual Masters degree in Early Childhood Education (Birth to 2nd grade) and Early Childhood Special Education. I have gained my majority of my teaching experience on the Pre-K level, but also have taught Kindergarten through 5th grade in both general and special education classroom settings, as well as a music specialist teacher. My music education background virtually spans my lifetime; from piano lessons as a young child, to drum lessons in my teens into adulthood, to vocal lessons, ear training, and theory classes throughout college. I have been performing and recording with bands as a drummer, keyboard player, vocalist, and guitarist for over 20 years. My expertise and main focus lays in percussion. As a professional drummer, I also teach private drum lessons, and emphasize rhythm as a fundamental element of music in my curriculum at school, highlighting the importance of beat, tempo, dynamics, and "music literacy"; Reading music, understanding note value and placement corresponds heavily to what is referred to as "math literacy". I also am a tutor for children ages 3-12, and a party entertainer (performing singalongs with guitar, and incorporating percussion play for the children).
