About Michael Stys

Hello, A career in public safety has always been a dream of mine. My grandfather was a Chicago Police Sergeant while I was growing up. I entered the public safety service as an EMT-Basic at Life EMS Ambulance in Kalamazoo Michigan in 2004 running 911 calls throughout Kalamazoo County. From there I continued my education and became licensed as a paramedic and eventually became a senior paramedic. I was eventually promoted and became a System Status Controller (EMD-Dispatcher) for Life EMS Ambulance until I left in 2009. From there I took a job as a police radio dispatcher for Western Michigan University's public safety department. I stayed with WMU until I was offered my current job with the City of Naperville Illinois as a 911 Telecommunicator in June of 2012. I currently hold an Illinois paramedic license, Illinois emergency medical dispatcher license, I'm and APCO Certified Training Officer, and have been trained as a LEAD Telecommunicator allowing me to be in a charge of my shift if a supervisor is not present. I'm also currently involved with our recruitment team, co-teaching our EMD program to new employees,and I'm a subject matter expert in MABAS-IL operations having served as our departments liason for over 8 years.
