About Michael Sumner

I am a Fall 2020 graduate from the University of Florida (Go Gators!) interested in combining sustainable designs and practices with cost savings, all while maintaining or exceeding the quality of life we have come to enjoy. It is my belief that these three domains must be addressed simultaneously in order to drive widespread adoption of environmentally benign and/or restorative behaviors. Since my junior year of undergrad, I have balanced school with working as an administrative assistant to a project manager with SIEMENS Smart Infrastructure. The project is a Green Globes certified chilled water and steam plant that efficiently controls the climate of UF’s College of Veterinary Medicine’s facilities. Past work and leadership experiences I have had include Paddleboard Instructor with Sweetwater Adventures in Bonita Beach, Florida (2014-2015) where I taught international and domestic visitors to the Southwest Florida region. During my early years of undergrad, I served as a UF Student Senator and as the Director of Operations for UF Homecoming and Gator Growl. I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Sustainability in the Built Environment with a focus in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and a minor in real estate.
