Background

About Michael Thibault

I had to be the man of my house at a very young age. When I was 3 weeks old my mother moved my special needs sister and myself out of my father's apartment to get out of an emotionally and physically abusive environment. Throughout my childhood I dealt with a plethora of physical and emotional trauma caused by my father. I had to protect both my sister and myself from his violence anytime we would visit him. Those experiences helped enhance my skills in redirections, compassionate care, analyzing environmental variables, and psychological flexibility. To this point in my professional career, I have focused on working with kids to be a positive male role model to them. Denzel Washington:"If the father is not in the home, the boy will find a father in the streets." I have been a multiplier on any team. I excel at empathy, compassion, time management, coping skills, discipline, motivation, being passionate, strong moral compass, and being able to bridge the generational gap to teach knowledge. I have learned coaching techniques from 6 Michigan High School Football Hall of Fame coaches. I have been highly successful working with youth in athletics (both neurodivergent and neurotypical athletes) education system, juvenile justice system, and administering applied behavioral analysis therapy. I am on track to graduate and sit for the BCBA exam in may of 2025. I have already completed all of my practicum hours. I love using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with clients and myself. My long term career goal is to run and operate my own ABA clinic for kids, adolescents, and adults with ASD to help combat the long wait list that most ABA centers experience. I aspire to continue to serve the most vulnerable populations (MVP). The intervention I am most proud of is using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to reduce a company's turnover rate from 2.13 employees leaving a month to 0.5 employees leaving a month (the company also grew 3x and reduced from 3 BCBAs to 2 BCBAs). Upon a job offer I am more than happy to share the intervention for replication. The biggest thing that I have learned throughout my graduate program is how to apply individual behavior change principles to improve a companies efficiency, retention, and employee satisfaction. Throughout my practicum experience I have ran PEAK, VB-Mapp, and ABBLS-R assessments. I have conducted a plethora of preference assessments, created programs, operationally defined behaviors. Majority of the clients I have worked with have had substantial growth in skill acquisition and behavior reduction.
