About Michael Tom

I am a dedicated ESL/EFL teacher with 10+ years of teaching experience in the U.S. and overseas (China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong), and an additional 5 years of experience in educational publishing. I help university and adult students achieve learning outcomes using a mix of methodologies/techniques, technology, and carefully planned activities. I am continually developing my skills in the classroom (face-to-face and online) to help students make progress toward their language learning goals, and doing that with integrity, creativity, and a steady focus on their needs. As a publishing professional I developed ELT courses in print and digital formats, working to exacting standards both individually and in teams. I have worked with authors and freelance editors to plan and complete publishing projects. In addition, I have managed quality control over student books and an array of ancillaries, developed workflows, established style guides, managed schedules, and overseen project budgets. Specialties: ESL/EFL, EAP, ESP, ELT course development, materials development, e-learning, instructional design, project management, editing, and proofreading.
