About Michael Utesch

Paramedic since 2012 and an Emergency Medical Technician since with BLS and ALS 911 experience in a high performance, fast-paced, and demanding 911 environment; mass-gathering, and mass-casualty training and experience, and event-based EMS experience. Bachelors of Emergency and Disaster Management with a minor/undergraduate certificate in Instructional Design and Delivery with a focus on adult education. Currently enrolled in American Military University's Masters of Public Health (CEPH accredited). My interest and research focus is on those driving and contributing factors leading to the usage and over usage of 911 EMS services with special interest in the factors of socioeconomic status, education, previous experience with the 911 EMS system, prior or previous Emergency Department usage, preexisting medical conditions, and co-morbidities, primary care status, medical regimen and medication adherence, religious status. In relation to these goals, I would also like to research the novel concept of the community paramedic. Specifically, I would like to research the benefit vs cost, training modalities and how well that education translates to real-world effectiveness, the overall perception of the provider by the provider themselves, as well as by those patients he or she interacts with, and by those healthcare providers he or she interfaces with. Ultimately I would love to gain employment or provide research toward 911 EMS services Associate Faculty Mt. San Jacinto College EMT program since 2009.
