About Michael Vallance

My research has been funded by the UK Prime Minister's Initiative (PMI2) and the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST). I have been engaged technology design, implementation, research and consultancy for over twenty years, working closely with Higher Education Institutes, schools and media companies in U.K, U.S, Singapore, Malaysia and Japan. I have also been awarded for research in virtual collaboration by the United States Department of Defense. I have written research proposals, funding applications, technology and education reports, and over 160 peer-reviewed academic journal publications. Collaborating with fellow researchers I am often the principal author of our research. Communicating research in multiple modalities is essential, whether it be text, images, videos, websites or, more recently, within virtual reality (the metaverse). As shown on this accompanying page, I have a wide range of experience in Marine & Mechanical Engineering, Business, Design, Innovation, Data Dissemination, Computational Thinking, Artificial Intelligence, and Mixed Realities (AR, VR, XR). I am familiar with technical discourse for communication among experts and to a general audience in DITA (using OxygenXML) and GitHub (using GitBook). I thrive when working to deadlines, and am considered a reliable team player.
