About Michael van Cise

I am a partner in Arnall Golden Gregory LLP's Private Wealth Practice Group. I aspire to be an excellent and trusted advisor and resource to my clients at all times and to add value to all my client relationships. My practice is focused on the areas of sophisticated wealth transfer planning, federal and state wealth transfer taxation, business succession planning, trusts and trust law, trust administration, and estate administration. I have worked with high net worth individuals and families in developing and implementing vehicles to transfer assets effectively and efficiently. Recent projects on which I have worked include irrevocable inter-vivos trusts, charitable remainder trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts ("GRATs"), and testamentary planning vehicles (primarily Wills and revocable trusts) for wealthy individuals and analysis of the filing requirements and beneficial owners in complex business structures (including trust owners) under the corporate transparency act. Our firm also assists clients in estate administration. Some of my recent work involves assisting the executor with respect to administering a taxable estate with closely held business interests, estate liquidity issues, and properly discharging the duties of a fiduciary. In past projects, I have helped the executor navigate complex private foundation taxation rules such as the tax on excess business holdings and prohibition on self-dealing. Although we work primarily with high net worth individuals, because of the current high threshold for estate tax returns, not all estates we work with necessitate federal estate tax returns. I am well versed in non-tax estate administration issues such as the duty of impartiality, year's support, appraisal and valuation issues, and the timing of distributions.
