About Michael Viscione

Hi. This is always a little weird. I’m going to refer to myself in the third person here. Rest assured that I don’t do that in real life… Michael is a VFX supervisor and Art Director working in creative minded fields. With over 15 years of experience in varied backgrounds, he brings a unique approach to creative and technical problems. Starting his career in NYC, he worked as an artist, designer and project lead for major film and commercial houses such as Framestore, The Mill, Method and many others. During that period he cultivated his passion for the technical side of 3D and design. Ultimately becoming the lead of postviz for Framestore Film NYC. Eventually his creative itch pushed him to LA, where currently he is a VFX supervisor and Art Director for FX Networks. Blending both technical and creative he helped build FX’s VFX team. On the creative side he splits his time doing on set VFX supervision for FX original content. Leading an internal experimental design team. Interfacing with vendors to help cut costly information and communication delays. Interpreting needs from creative executives to brief vendors and internal teams. Developing creative pitches and molding day to day creative changes based on the needs of the job. On the technical side he has helped expand FX’s internal teams capability of producing high end graphics with a relatively small team. He developed FX’s cg pipeline for Maya/Houdini/Nuke. He setup and helps maintains FX’s internal Gpu farm and 72 node Cpu farm. These setups have the flexibility to change per show and have the ability to scale up with more artists.
