Background

About Michael Waldsmith

I was born and raised in Anderson, South Carolina. I previously attended Winthrop University as an Art Education double major, and had a career change after the Covid-19 pandemic. I would love the opportunity to teach a classroom later in my career. After I left Winthrop, I spent a year working different kinds of jobs, gaining different kinds of experience that I still use to this day. It was during this time I decided I need to get back into school to get a better job to take care of myself and future family. I completed the General Engineering Technology program at Tri-County Technical College in May 2024. I loved every minute of the program, especially PLC and Robotics programming. I enjoy working with electronics and things with moving parts. As a child I would take apart my toys to understand how they moved, and attempt (sometimes successfully!) to put them back together in working order. I'm currently employed at Proterra, in Greer, South Carolina, as a Controls Technician. I squash bugs as they come up to keep production running, while working on continuously improving existing processes.
