About Michael Wells

I am the project manager to seven on-going research projects as the principal investigator or co-investigator. As a research leader, it is my job to integrate the small details of multiple projects into the bigger picture and ensure that our research goals are met. In my leadership role, I supervise my research team, as well as ensure multiple collaborations between researchers, clinicians, and the participants all run smoothly. In all of my projects, we design the research goals, create and distribute the survey, recruit participants, ensure the sample size is weighted to find statistical differences, and analyze and publish the results in top journals in my field. I use applied statistics, both qualitative and quantitative, to perform data analysis on a range of projects, all with the goal of helping to improve the user experience, product/procedure, better implement/evaluate the program and/or improve the marketing of the product/program. Most of my research has the end goal of improving the quality of services offered to participants/patients. Most surveys are based online, and I've done dozens of qualitative interviews in-person, over the phone, and through the internet. Being applied, I have used my research to inform clinical practices, including helping convince the national child health program of a need to add in a new clinical visit and the topics that should be discussed. Later, based on my research, we further convinced policy makers to also screen for postpartum depression. I have also been in numerous national and international media outlets to promote the science on a general public level. I welcome future consultations from the public and private spheres regarding either qualitative or quantitative research or in making quality improvements.
