About Michael Z.

Full-stack polyglot lead engineer, API nerd, and inveterate documenter. I value data-driven decision making, intentional simplicity, and iterative delivery in everything from design specs to bug fixes. Personal interests include saving the planet and pretty much any game played on a tabletop. My primary experience is designing, building, and scaling data-intensive distributed applications and network APIs. I’ve also spent several years writing and maintaining internal libraries and API standards. I love hacking on lightweight tools and process to improve the life of engineering teams, and I get a big kick out of being glue to help others succeed.I’m comfortable doing solo work but love collaborating with others, and enjoy leading projects as much as playing an enabling role to those around me. I deeply value giving and receiving mentorship and believe great organizations foster a culture of co-learning and curiosity between folks of all experience levels. I can lead a team, project, or meeting with comfort and enthusiasm, whether it’s leadership, product, customers, or my fellow engineers on the call.I enjoy the challenge of learning new languages and technologies. I work mostly in Go in my current day job.
