About Michaela Delong

I am a dedicated professional with a strong background in social services and public administration. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and my career has been driven by a passion for creating positive and meaningful change within communities. With experience spanning corrections, income assistance, transition homes, and an Indigenous non-profit organization, I have developed an understanding of the complexities and needs within diverse communities. A personal value of mine is self-growth and I apply this to my work, through continuously learning from diverse communities. Currently, as a First Nations Consultation Officer with the Ministry of Forests, I facilitate dialogues and partnerships between Indigenous communities and the Archaeology Branch to ensure that the legal duty to consult is fulfilled but also that Indigenous interests and cultural heritage are protected. I monitor government-funded Indigenous led projects, assist Permitting Archaeologists and other ministries with the consultation process and provide advice to executive leadership on upcoming or current issues. Throughout my career, I have remained focused on my core values of empathy and collaboration. I have a passion for community engagement and supporting meaningful change at an individual and institutional level.
