About Michaela Mallia

A highly motivated Architect, with a unique multidisciplinary background in architecture, services engineering, urbanism & sustainability at all scales: product, building & infrastructural. My area of expertise lies in low-energy retrofit & conservation refurbishment, having developed my own approach to enhancing a building’s heritage assets whilst upgrading functional & technical performance, & achieving statutory compliances across statuary bodies, conservation bodies, Passivhaus & BREEAM. I have extensive experience in conceptual & technical design, project delivery & management across all RIBA project stages. I have a proven ability to effectively lead internal & external, cross-disciplinary teams across diverse projects, including high-end residential, culture & arts, commercial, retail, public building & PBSA sectors. Working directly under the Director & Associates my current pracatice, I’ve honed various transferable project & team management skills, & my own approach to design, sustainability, feasibility, planning & conservation. I graduated Cum Laude in MSc Architecture, Urbanism and Building Sciences from TU Delft, in an interdisciplinary architecture & urbanism studio. My thesis explored architecture’s agency in de-carbonising energy infrastructures, demonstrating a high level of strategic & critical thinking throughout different landscapes & scales. Equipped with a strong sensibility for design, I am also highly organised & detail-orientated. My determination & positive attitude have often resulted in myself or my work representing my university or studio.
