About Michaela Norgren

Food Equity Advocate | MSW Candidate | Community & Land-Based Program Facilitator With an educational background in Biochemistry (Cellular & Molecular Biology) and Sustainable Agriculture, Michaela brings a systems-thinking lens to her work with food, land, and community; grounded in the belief that these are deeply connected parts of everyday life. Currently completing her Master of Social Work, Michaela focuses on the transformative power of place, culture, and collective wellness. She is the founder of Laughing Radish, an Ottawa initiative that weaves together wholistic food system education and community resilience. Michaela also works with the SOI Foundation, where she facilitates land-based programming and youth engagement across Canada and within Inuit Nunangat. Michaela has co-facilitated multiple Arctic Policy Cohort programs, Youth Councils, and has led delegations to international Arctic conferences. Her work centers on empowering youth, supporting leadership development, and fostering strong connections between people, place and wellbeing. Michaela is inspired by community, culture, and stewardship for the Native food lands that she lives and works on. She is committed to supporting the empowerment and leadership of others through a thoughtful, grounded, and place-based practice.
