About Michel Morin

Michel Morin is an architect who specialized in acoustics to bring together his interests and knowledge in the fields of architecture, music and physics. He started his career at the employment of Barron and Associates in Western Canada in February 1979 and founded MJM Acoustical Consultants in July 1984, shortly after returning to Montréal. As the Founder and Principal Consultant of MJM, M. Morin has signed the acoustics and noise control of many major cultural, institutional and commercial projects such as the Bell Center, Place Bell, Phi Center, 1250 René Lévesque, Place Montréal Trust, Bell Campus and CR-CHUM, to name only a few. He has also developed a unique approach to noise control in condominium buildings which has been applied successfully in projects totaling thirty thousand dwelling units, for clients such as Prevel, Proment, Devimco, Canderel and several others. From 1992 to 2005, Mr. Morin directed the operations of the Domtar Acoustical Laboratory located in Senneville (Qc) rented and operated by MJM on an exclusive basis. In conjunction to laboratory and consulting work, Mr. Morin undertook several research projects in the field of residential acoustics, most of which were funded by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation; several of these reports have been distributed worldwide, mainly in Europe, United States and Australia, and can be downloaded free of charge through MJM’s internet site Mr. Morin is a member of the ASA and of ASTM: the method to measure the sound insertion loss of operable doors which he developed in 1993 became an ASTM Standard (ASTM E 2964) in 2014. In December 2016, MJM was acquired by Mr. Nicolas Lévêque who has been with MJM since 2008 and who became its president. Mr. Morin is currently working with Mr. Lévêque and the team of MJM as a minority shareholder and Senior Principal Consultant, to ensure the continuity of the firm and the excellence of its consulting work for decades to come.
