About Michele Fowler

Hello, hello! I'm Michele – a marketing & communications professional with over seven years of experience. My career journey began in the e-commerce and retail side of marketing and quickly evolved as my passion for campaigning for causes and topics I care about grew through the power of storytelling. Whether it's sitting on the board for Fashion Revolution to advocate for ethical practices in the apparel industry, hosting events to raise funds for organizations like the Eating Disorder Support Networks of Alberta (EDSNA), developing campaigns to support the growth of women's sports, or simply positioning my city as the ultimate event-hosting and travel destination – it all ignites me and is the reason I show up to do my work every day. From a technical standpoint, I've been fortunate to work for several start-up companies that have allowed me to foster skills like project management, lead generation, conversion optimization, copywriting, media, and campaign planning, among others. These experiences allowed me to uncover my passion for the strategic side of marketing – team collaboration and finding work flow efficiencies invigorates me and I can confidently say is where my unique abilities lie. Currently, you can find me working at Explore Edmonton, Edmonton's Destination Marketing and Management Organization (DMMO), where I am acting Director for the Marketing Accounts Team – focusing on the Consumer and Business Development portfolios. In this role, I lead a team of Account Managers and Specialists in their efforts to strategically promote Edmonton to the leisure traveler, meeting planner, and rights holders of major sport & cultural events. We align our strategy closely with our provincial and national destination partners, including Travel Alberta, Indigenous Tourism Alberta, and Destination Canada. Outside of work, you can find me adding new countries and cities to my travel bucket list, running through Edmonton's iconic river valley, and devouring pop culture podcasts like it's my second job. I've just wrapped up my two-year term of sitting on the board for the Advertising Club of Edmonton as Awards Co-Chair and am after a new volunteer position that blends my passions and interests!
