About Michele Schiavo

Since childhood I have always shown a strong interest in science and technology, especially for mechanics. For this reason I decided to undertake higher studies at the technical school I.T.I.S B.Castelli of Brescia. Once I obtained the diploma of mechanical expert in 2012, I had the opportunity to work in a company operating in the biomedical field, in particular I was placed in the department dedicated to the production, commissioning and technical assistance of automatic machines for bacteriological analysis. Duringthis time I discovered the world of automation and I developed a great passion for it that led me to enroll in 2014 in the degree course in industrial automation engineering at the University of Brescia.While attending this program, which allowed me to acquire extensive skills in the fields of mechanics, informatics and electronics, I developed a great interest in control systems. For this reason I decided to contact the professor of fundamentals of control systems for the Bachelor’s thesis. I was proposed to deal with innovative techniques for the tuning of an industrial controller applied to the control of the hypnosis level of patients undergoing surgery under total intravenous anesthesia. This experience has been very stimulating for me as it has allowed me to apply what I have learnt in university courses concerning control systems and thus to improve my knowledge of them. I also had the chance to work with some PhD students, coming in touch with the world of research and thus discovering my passion for it. During the master’s degree course in in industrial automation I took part in the double degree program “Mechatronics systems for rehabilitation” which allowed me to further explore theengineering aspects related to biomedical devices as well as enriching me personally and culturally by moving for a semester to a large European capital like Paris.In 2019 I started my PhD in Technology for Health at Università degli studi di Brescia.
