About Michele Smith

Michele Smith attended the Criminal Justice Institute at Valencia Community College in Orlando, Florida. In the academy, she served as a squad leader and earned the Board of Trustee's Award for overall excellence. She has attended many law enforcement training classes/conferences and previously served as an instructor at the police academy and as a field training officer. Michele Smith is assigned to the Specialized Investigative Services Division of the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office and oversees the Drug Intervention and Diversion programs and is currently working on the opioid epidemic. She holds a bachelors’ degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida. She is a 2005 graduate of the Command Officers Development Course, Southern Police Institute, University of Louisville. Michele also holds Advanced Professional Series and Professional Development Series certificates from FEMA/Florida Division of Emergency Management. Prior to her work at the SCSO, Michele worked at the Orlando Police Department from January 1992 until May 2016. She served as a police officer, detective, sergeant, and lieutenant in many different divisions including patrol, property investigations, violent crime investigations, crimes against children, crime prevention, training unit, inspections, mounted patrol, and a temporary assignment at the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigations. Michele has been married for 27 years to another law enforcement professional and they have an adult son.
