About Michele Vitacca

I have been working since 1990 at the Istituti Clinici Scientifici Maugeri IRCCS Brescia, Lombardy Italy. Degree in Medicine and Surgery, specialized as Intensivist and then in Respiratory Diseases. Clinical and research interests: pulmonary rehabilitation, chronic respiratory failure, COPD, asthma, exacerbated chronic respiratory failure, peripheral muscle, non-invasive mechanical ventilation, weaning from mechanical ventilation, neuromuscular diseases, home care models, telemedicine, telerehabilitation, palliative and end-of-life care for non-oncological respiratory diseases. European Respiratory Society (ERS) member, FERS (Fellow of European Respiratory Society) since 2016; Italian Association of Hospital Pneumologists (AIPO) member. Reviewer of several international journals, Editorial Assistant of Pulmonology and Monaldi Archives for Chest Diseases journals. I have held several seminars in Italy and abroad, participating as lecturer and invited speaker at more than 196 courses, 306 Italian congresses and 224 International congresses. I have published 325 scientific papers with an H Index (Web of Science) of 55. Honored to be in the Word top 2% scientist 2024, 2025.
