About Michelle Brimhall Cooley

I'm an experienced middle school math teacher who loves math and middle schoolers. It's a unique and entertaining universe. Six years of teaching Honors Math 1, Math 8, Math 7, and Math 6 have contributed to my passion for the CA State Standards; my direct instruction provides clarity, humor and positivity. Music and rhythm are used to increase fluency with math facts. Think Freddie Mercury and perfect cubes to ten. Fact fluency increases the enjoyment and mastery of all successive math standards. By the end of the school year, my students are a family of confident mathematicians. You could say we are Algebros. Lesson plans are varied, engaging and differentiated; plans include small group work with student presentations, technology, proof art, eye-hand coordination, velcro galaxy darts and applause. Lesson plans, brief videos and homework assignments are updated and online for student and parent reference. Parent/student/teacher communication is critical; listening is key. I was voted in 2022 by students as the "Most Inspiring Teacher" on campus. I was trusted as a GATE Advisor and Girls Volleyball Coach. I'm a team player, supporting Administration and my teaching colleagues. I'm like the minus sign who asked,"Do I make a difference?" And you will say, like the + sign,"Yes, I'm positive."
