About Michelle Browne
Michelle Browne is an artist and curator based in Dublin, Ireland. She has exhibited both nationally and internationally, most recently taking part in Transmuted Performance Festival Mexico, The European Performance Art Festival (Poland), Trouble (Belgium), A lens With a Conscience (USA), Unfamiliar (USA & Ireland), The National Review of Live Art (Scotland) and a solo show entitled ‘ Out on the sea was a boat full of people singing’ and other stories’ at The LAB, Dublin. Michelle is the founder of OUT OF SITE, a festival of live art in public space in Dublin, presenting performances by over 40 national and international artists across Dublin city from 2006 - 2008. In 2009 she curated Vital Signs Arts in Health in Context as part of a programme for The Arts Council and Create and in 2010 she was invited to curate Tulca Season of Visual Art in Galway. Michelle is the recipient of the NCAD Student Prize 2007, The RDS James White Art Award 2006, The Arts Council of Ireland Artist Bursary 2008 & 2010 and support from Culture Ireland. She has written for Circa Art Magazine, Visual Artists News Sheet and Create News. Michelle also works as a freelance educator. She was a guest lecturer in the Sculpture department of NCAD working with students to present public site specific projects in Dublin 8. She was also a guest lecturer on the MA Art in the Contemporary World as part of their seminar series art and the everyday. Michelle also works as part the education programme of Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane, working with children of all ages and delivering lectures to The People's College Introduction to Art History and Contemporary Art for adults. She has also contributed to The Butler Gallery Adult education programme on contemporary art. Michelle has also worked with a variety of community groups on visual art projects. She recently completed work with young adults from Dublin City part of Dublin City Council's Open Spaces Programme.
