About Michelle Clark

I have worked in the Social Care sector since January 2015, following graduation from DKIT BA Honours Degree in Youth Work. Over the course of my employment I have furthered my professional development through engaging in courses and training to enhance my skills and knowledge. To date I have engaged in courses such as Theraputic Crisis Intervention, Mental Health First Aid, Emergency First Aid and AED, Fire Safety, Managing Challenging Behaviour, Online Safety, Domestic Violence Awareness, Children's First, Motivational Interviewing, Safe Talk, ASIST suicide training, Biohazard training, HACCAP Food Safety, Welltree and professional development training. Over the course of my employment i have worked in One Night Only Homeless Shelters, Adult Supportive Temporary Accommodation services and Under 18's services. Since January 2017 I have been working in the Aftercare residential sector. I primarily work with young people transitioning out of care who are at risk of homelessness. Many of these young people required additional support due to mental health and learning difficulties. In October 2018 I commenced a HDIP course in Professional Social Care to further my learning and ensure my progression and security in the Social care sector. I have since graduated with first class honours while maintaining my full time role. I completed a certificate course in Supporting children and young people with autism spectrum disorder in 2021 to further my understanding and professional development. This course has improved my knowledge and effectiveness in working with neurodivergent young people. In February 2023 I progressed into a Team Leader role in Aftercare Services. I provide leadership, mentoring and support to 2 residential aftercare teams and an outreach worker team. I manage 2 residential aftercare services and 2 step-down aftercare services in addition to working with 10 active participants and countless outreach young people who have progressed from my aftercare service cohort.
