About Michelle Coltrane
I am a lifelong music industry professional with extensive performance, composition, and arrangement experience. My records and shows have been met with critical acclaim by the likes of Jazz Times, The Los Angeles Times, and Downbeat Magazine. In this journey I have had the honor of playing throughout the United States and Europe with musicians I deeply admire including Kamasi Washington, Jack DeJohnette, and Marvin "Smitty" Smith. Outside of my work as a musician, I am co-owner of my family's Jowcol Music estate and Chief Creative Officer of The John and Alice Coltrane Home Foundation. This work has been an involved process with myself and my team in pursuit of creating a museum and community space within our family's former residence in Dix Hills, Long Island. The complex process of renovating, funding, and curating the project is a labor of love with the goal of sharing our family's legacy of music and spirituality with an international community.
