Background
About Michelle Conlin
Michelle Conlin is an award-winning, senior enterprise correspondent at Reuters, where she has covered President Trump's foray into cryptocurrencies, mortgage fraud, zombie titles, the foreclosure epidemic, Americans in debt, the 2016 presidential election, how U.S. courts cover up deadly corporate secrets, and the way Wall Street landlords evicted tenants during the pandemic-despite local and national bans. Her reporting at Reuters has had wide-ranging impact, including contributing to new legislation addressing zombie homes, new rules banning banks’ practice of gagging homeowners, the end of governmental financing support of bonds backed by Wall Street’s foray into single-family homes and a congressional investigation into pandemic evictions. Prior to Reuters, Michelle was a Senior Writer at BusinessWeek magazine, where she wrote cover stories about the working poor, economic policy, social issues, politics, the culture of work, corporate strategy, retail and the labor market. She's appeared regularly in film, radio and TV, including on NBC's "Today Show," ABC's "Good Morning America,” CBS's "The Early Show," NPR, MSNBC, PBS, CBS, Fox News and CNN. She was also a regular panelist on weekly news shows on CNN and PBS. She has won awards from the National Press Club, the Deadline Club, the American Bar Association, SABEW, the Newswomen's Club, the New York Press Club and the National Real Estate Editors Association. She was also a finalist for the World Leadership Forum's Communicator of the Year award and was named one of Elle Magazine’s Eco Women of the Year. Michelle co-produced the documentary movie No Impact Man, which played at film festivals across the U.S, including Sundance, and was released theatrically in movie theaters around the world. After graduating from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, Michelle started her career in reporting at the Philadelphia Inquirer and CNN. She is originally from Bismarck, North Dakota, and lives with her family in New York.
