About Michelle Cook

I have 19 years of experience working in Tribal government within social services and community/family services programs. After 10 years in the disabilities field, I transitioned to the Community Advocacy Program, where I am the Program Manager overseeing the Three Sisters domestic violence program and shelter, the Family Advocate program, and the Transitional Housing program. These programs are funded through various federal and state grants, all of which I am responsible for managing. I previously served on the Human Rights / Incident Review Committee and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council. Currently I am part of New York State Governor Kathy Hochul’s Developmental Disability/Domestic Violence Advisory Board, the Tribal Victims Services Set-Aside Training and Technical Assistance Steering Committee, and the Franklin Essex Housing Coalition, where I serve on 4 sub-committees: Domestic Violence, Operations, Membership, and Racial Justice. In 2019-2020 I participated in the Vermont Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities Fellowship program at UVM and was named one of the AUCD Emerging Leaders in 2020. I am also a member of the Alpha Phi Sigma Nu Mu Chapter Honor society through Boston University, from which I received my Masters Degree in Criminal Justice. Outside of work, I am a member of the Akwesasne Cultural Center and Library Board of Trustees.
