About Michelle Dormady

As far back as I can remember I have had a strong desire in entrepreneurship. I was never challenged enough in my past jobs growing up and would work my way up until I couldn’t go any further and eventually sought another challenge. It wasn’t until 1997 that I found myself discovering the world of animal welfare. I found myself drawn the one of the biggest challenges in my life and the strongest desire to make a difference in the KC Community. Working in an animal shelter and seeing 3 animals coming in the back door and less going out the front brought me to finding a solution to the problem of pet homelessness. I left the animal shelter and embarked on the most challenging career path ever to start Spay & Neuter Kansas City, KC’s largest targeted spay and neuter program today. I love to learn, build on my knowledge, leadership skills and inspire others. I am motivated to make a difference - luckily in my career I not only get to make a difference in the lives of pets, but the people who own and love them. I seek long term impacts in our community – and want to know our efforts will help save more animals lives and improve the way people care for their pets. I have personally had a pet who truly saved and changed my life and at a time I was in one of the difficult times of my life. I am an advocate to help all people who love pets, regardless of financial means because I truly believe in the animal-human bond and the incredible benefits. Our mission at the Pet Resource Center of Kansas City is addressing all variables of pet-homelessness and our efforts are making more advance and positive impacts in animal welfare then many other programs. I am inspired to build a team committed to our mission, contribute to strategic planning, and know they are essential to the team, allowed to utilize their own ideas and creativity to strengthen the organization and all of our programs.
