About Michelle Erdman

Managing sell-side contracts involving the largest hospital systems in the United States, Michelle has a passion for negotiating contract terms and particularly enjoys building customer relationships during contentious negotiations – in other words, finding a way for everyone to win. She equally enjoys counseling business partners regarding contracting risk and strategy. To enhance her background considering and resolving compliance related issues, Michelle recently completed a Health Law Compliance Certificate and Health Law Certificate. Governance, ethics, administrative rules, and healthcare finance are all components to the certifications. An effective negotiator with excellent drafting, organizational, analytical and communications skills, Michelle is customer-focused, with a proven record as a trusted partner to business stakeholders. She excels at advising on contractual and compliance matters and risk mitigation strategies within established company guidelines and policies. Prior to being recruited into 3M’s Healthcare Division Michelle worked in the corporate legal department where she acquired a number of valuable skills- Negotiating and settling personal injury and property damage claims - Reviewing international acquisition targets for Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) concerns - Researching healthcare specific regulation such as Sunshine Act and HIPAA compliance - Managing third-party subpoenas, engaging outside counsel as necessary - Working with Regulatory Affairs, Technical Service and Marketing to ensure marketing claims are substantiated Outside of 3M, Michelle finds personal satisfaction working as a paramedic, and she hopes to continue giving back to the community and helping people in their time of need with her recently acquired legal Juris Doctorate degree.
