About Michelle Harcourt

I'm a strategic and very experienced Aged Care Advisor with expertise in Aged Care Quality Accreditation Standards. I help aged care providers navigate a complex regulatory environment to achieve and maintain compliance – specialising in the support of rural and regional aged care facilities. I work directly with my clients (Executive, Boards, and staff), building close relationships and really understanding each business. I assess each organisation's needs, resources and their current environment and map out a plan, tailoring to their needs and ensuring the best use of available resources. I bring in expert team members as required including gerontic nurse practitioners and legal and governance experts. I have worked in the aged care sector for 30 years, 12 years of those as a consultant. My earlier career roles included nurse, nurse manager, Commonweath approved Nurse Advisor and working for state and federal government in quality and safety for health and aged care. Key skills and services: • Auditing across the Aged Care Quality Accreditation Standards. • Development of improvement plans. • Reviewing policies and procedures. • Complex investigations: Coronial inquests, root cause analysis, and adverse events. • Liaison with and preparation of reports to regulatory bodies. • Strategic planning, clinical risk mapping against standards. • Education, training and mentoring of staff - creating effective and collaborative teams.
