About Michelle Henderson

A commercially astute business leader who has operated at UK Exec board level and has over 25 years experience in developing start up brands and transforming poor performing business units across; Media, E-commerce, Retail, Telco, Publishing and Financial Service sectors. Michelle started her career in Marketing at BUPA then Cable & Wireless/NTL. In 2001 she moved to Carphone Warehouse (CPW) and held a variety of senior Marketing roles until 2009, including Marketing Director and UK Exec Board member. Whist at CPW Michelle launched CarphoneWarehouse Direct, TalkTalk and GeekSquad. In 2009 Michelle took a sabbatical and joined the Clipper Round The World Yacht Race as a crew member. On her return in 2010, Michelle worked as an independent consultant for NewsUK and other clients, leading their various Transformation programmes until 2014. Michelle was then appointed by NewsUK as CEO to their e-commerce business (HandPicked Collection). Michelle left NewsUk in 2016 and was asked by OSN (the leading satellite provider in the MENA region) to help build and launch it's OTT streaming service (WAVO.com). After successfully launching WAVO.com, Michelle returned to the UK in 2018 and joined Tortoise Media to help build the business, in 2019 Michelle was appointed as COO. Michelle has a strong background in building businesses and leading teams through major business, product and brand launches. Michelle has proven experience in developing innovative commercial and operational solutions that drive bottom line improvements and is known for creating strong working relationships and influencing at all levels across multi-national organisations.
