I am an experienced information professional who has worked across many types of organizations, including public, academic, and school libraries, online and physical archives, and in a variety of positions in other creative fields. I am a generalist and a polymath, an artistic nerd with a focus on knowledge and kindness.In all of my roles, I keep a strong commitment to environmental stewardship, respect for all living beings, and equity, diversity, and inclusion. I love to connect people with the information and resources that will empower them to lead their best lives. For me to succeed at this mission, it is vital for me to listen and learn from a wide variety of people with different perspectives and personal knowledge, and to always be curious about the world around me so that I can help foster these connections when the opportunity arises. I do my best to use the privileges I have to lift up the voices and perspectives of the people who are underrepresented in our society’s decision-making processes, while understanding the opposition I will face from my experiences doing this work. The power imbalances and systems of abuse in our modern technology and economic systems are extremely concerning to me, and our survival as a civilization is dependent on the actions we take now to evolve into a sustainable and conscious way of being. Our future is still being shaped every day, and where we end up will depend on the choices we make now, every day. The solutions will require collaboration between people from all different areas of knowledge, and it is important to build bridges between communities and areas of specialization so that our actions can be broadly informed and cognizant of the needs of more than just a few people with an inordinate amount of power.
